Ford F-150 Pickup Declared Motor Trend 'Truck of the Year'

Adding another prestigious award to their already long list of them, Ford has nabbed (albeit earned) the 2012 Motor Trend Truck of the YearŽ. This time it's for the F-150 pickup truck. Among the other models the Ford F-150 championed are the NV, HD Laramie Longhorn and Tacoma.
To win the venerable Motor Trend 'Truck of the Year' award, the Ford F-150 had to prove it won't cave under pressure. Ford colorfully depicts the tests as torture. When the weeklong process closed, however, the F-150 proved to have the strongest spirit of them all.
The specific Ford F-150 model that impressed Motor Trend was the pickup equipped with a 5.0-liter V8 engine. But, the judges certainly didn't discount the smaller, more eco-conscious 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost engine, while undoubtedly helped confirm the decision. And, with even more bi-partisan fanfare surrounding the EcoBoost engine, Ford expects just under half of all F-150 buyers to select that powerplant over the down-and-dirty V8, moving forward.
Mark Fields, President, Ford Americas says of receiving the accolade, "We are proud to receive this award and even more pleased that our F-150 customers have additional validation of their choice."1
Of course, this isn't the first time the Ford F-150 has stolen the hearts of the editors at Motor Trend. The pickup also earned top honors from the industry-acclaimed magazine in 2009, 2004 and 1997. Pacifico Marple Ford suspects it likely won't be the last time, either.
