Summer is here! Before you pull out the beach gear, pack up your camping supplies, and get your road trips mapped out, you need to make sure that your vehicle is serviced and prepared for every summer adventure.
What Type of Summer Service Does My Car Need?
Whether you're getting excited for a summer of fun or your summer is filled with work and a few days in the sun, you'll want to have your vehicle maintained and repaired. Here are a few summer services that our Pacifico Marple Ford service center recommends.
- Oil and Filter Changes – Although this is a common routine maintenance item, it can sometimes be forgotten or ignored. Before going on any type of road trip, you'll want to check your oil to see if it's dirty or low. If so, have your oil and filter changed before you leave. If your change oil light is on, don't ignore it either.
- Fluid Check and Replacements – There are also many other fluids that should be checked and/or replaced as needed. Some of these include: transmission fluid, power steering fluid, coolant, brake fluid, windshield wiper fluid, and more. Make sure to check each one and refill or replace it as required.
- Tire Inspection and Changes – If you haven't already changed to summer tires, now is the time to do so. If you have or you've been rocking all seasons for a while, you'll want to have your tires inspected for wear and tread depth. If your tread is too low, your tire walls are scratched or dinged, or the tire isn't holding air as it should, you'll want to have the tires replaced before you travel.
- Battery Tests – The cold weather of winter can negatively affect your car's battery. The same can be said for excessive heat. To be sure that your car's battery is ready for any adventure, have it tested and/or replaced by our technicians.
- Brake Inspection and Repairs – Have you noticed that your brakes are squealing, shuddering, or aren't working as they should? Don't go on a summer trip until your brakes are fixed. We can inspect the entire brake system, repairing any part that needs work.
- Air Conditioner Check – Driving anywhere around PA without a/c is a nightmare. If you've noticed that your air conditioner is working correctly, you'll want to have it inspected and repaired if needed. Keeping cool while driving through Philadelphia traffic is absolutely necessary.
- Anything Else That Isn't Right – Whether your windshield is cracked, your seat belt isn't working the way it should, or you've noticed that there's a noise that isn't quite right, you'll want to have it taken care of before you leave for your summer fun. A broken-down car does not make a fun trip.
